State Secretary CPI (M) Ghulam Nabi Malik today lashed out at the PDP-BJP coalition government for its failure in providing power supply to the people of Kashmir in this chilling winter. In a statement issued here today, Malik said the worst power supply position in the Valley has forced the people to use gadgets of old times like lanterns. The power supply isn’t even enough to charge the mobile phones and people have to walk miles for this facility. Students have been worst victims of this power crisis as annual exams are ongoing. He said the situation in south Kashmir areas was particularly worse with electricity playing hide-n-seek all the time. While the winter has just begun, one can imagine what will be the situation in next few months. The power crisis is expected to worsen only in the coming days and the Government has left the helpless people to fend for themselves. A government which is not even able to provide basic amenities like electricity to the people makes claims of Digital India and cashless economy. It all is farce. He urged the Government to take some immediate steps to restore the electricity supply to the people.
